Kumsal Isik began her artistic journey after moving from Turkey, where she was born and raised, to New York in late 2020. While studying Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, her passion for art beyond fashion became deeper and more personal. In 2024, she began to draw not out of choice, but as the only way to express a feeling, and a person, that never quite had a name. Since then, she has continued to create, guided by the echoes of that same emotion.

Her work captures figures suspended in the fleeting moments where human bodies simply exist. Each piece reflects something she has lived or longed to live experiences too fragile for words, but fully alive in form and shadow. What began as a response to silent pain slowly evolved into a path of healing.

Her use of black and white tones reveals a quiet journey inward. Each brushstroke becomes a conversation with the past, and with herself. Every work is not just an emotional trace, but part of an ongoing process of self-discovery.
